Buffy Quinn is the assistant dean of natural and applied sciences at Onondaga Community College (OCC) in Syracuse, New York, where she works to develop stackable alternative credentials for technology programs and workforce development training. Before taking on this role, she spent 23 years as a GIS professional working primarily on environmental remediation and civil engineering projects. She moved from industry into academia and, for 10 years, taught courses in GIS, meteorology, environmental policy, geography, and natural disasters. She developed OCC’s associate degree program in geospatial science and technology, and she is the PI on an NSF-ATE grant project (#2000086) that integrates UAV remote sensing credentials into the geospatial program.
